Dundee United Preview

This season’s games between the clubs have been hard fought but we edged wins in both – 4-2 at Fir Park  and 1-0 at Tannadice. Since then United almost sacked Ian McCall but he bounced back with a good run in the cup and a vital league win at Livi. We went on a terrible run which dragged us back into the mid-table scrap for sixth place and saw left the Scottish Cup in pathetic fashion at Rugby Park. However, we are due a good run again…

We should have a full squad to choose from with Martyn Corrigan in with a shout of a starting place after sitting on the bench on Wednesday night. Jim Hamilton struggled against the Pars and his place might come under threat from Richie Foran. Butcher may also be particularly brave and give Brian Kerr a place on the bench.

For the visitors, Paul Ritchie will be suspended after he was sent off against Aberdeen in mid-week and they will also be without Lee Mair and Jim McIntyre.

They will still pose a threat though and players like Crawford and Robson will have to be watched carefully. This also applies to James Grady who has an annoying habit of scoring against us.

Dundee United have been a strange team this year. On paper they have good players and should be nowhere near the relegation zone. The table does not lie though and they are only three points clear of Livingston, something which could either motivate them or make them nervous before this week’s match. Both teams have shown that their defences can be shaky and this game could easily be a high scoring affair. It would be nice to record an easy win but when do we ever do things the easy way?

We’ll sneak it, but only just – 3-2 Motherwell.
