Dunfermline Preview

Kaiser Celebrates!
Dunfermline’s participation in the cup semi final at the weekend caused the postponement of the scheduled game but the ‘split’ deadline has caused a bizarre pile up. Terry Butcher and the team can allow no sympathy to creep into their planning but it does seem unfair that the Pars will be required to play a mixture of cup and league games on a Saturday-Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday-Tuesday sequence.

We will meet them two days after their game against Hibs when a late equaliser from Dempsey did us a favour by taking two points from our competitors. Livi play Rangers on Wednesday evening and they need three points to keep their slim hopes alive. It looks like one point is all we need.

It is likely that Jimmy Calderwood will send out a number of his youngsters on Thursday. Some may argue that we should gain an advantage in that case but Motherwell fans are well aware that youthful enthusiasm can often help a team to raise its performance.

The bumps and bruises which were sustained in the game against Hearts will have healed and we can only hope that the injury list has reduced over the weekend.

We have two chances to ensure a top six finish by our own efforts, Thursday at Fir Park and Sunday at Pittodrie. Sooner rather than later would be nice! 1-0 to the Mighty ‘Well.
