The final score was 2-1 to the 'Well and the team was: Dubordeau, Bell, Mathie, Kinniburgh, Sengewald, Dempsie, Clarkson, MacDonald, Jack, Fagan and Russell. Subs were Ewings, Barkey, Quinn, Crawley and Scott. this match marked the debut of Daniel Sengewald. The Pars fielded an older and more experienced team containing names like Stillie, Nicholls, Petrie, McGroarty and Kilgannon.

Kevin Gallacher did not not the team, presumably his clearance from the English FA did not materialise.

Quinn replaced Sengewald after about 65 minutes and Scott replaced Clarkson late on.

Scored two but taken off injured
Dunfermline hit the bar in the first minute and took the lead with a headed goal from Fotheringham after 20 minutes. We didn't manage to exert much pressure on the home keeper the exceptions being a good left foot shot from Darren Jack and an impressive turn and shot from Kevin MacDonald. Brian Dempsie put in a couple of good tackles whilst his defensive partner, William Kinniburgh looked very assured. Shortly after the break Daniel Sengewald notched two headed goals in 50 and 55 minutes respectively. His first was the slightest of touches from a Macdonald cross and the second a powerful downwards header from a corner. The Pars however hit woodwork in 58 minutes but they came even closer to equalising two minutes later when they had a goal disallowed. This caused great confusion with most people assuming it was legitimate.

We experienced some misfortune a few minutes later when Sengewald injured himself in a tackle and had to be replaced. He limped off around the pitch with what looked like an ankle knock. Late on David Clarkson caused the Pars defence some trouble on a couple of occasions before being substituted.

Overall a draw would have been a fair outcome in this scrappy game but we'll welcome the win. Neither keeper was really tested.

We had no real failures but the following players deserve a special mention: Andrew Bell looked a fine prospect at full back; William Kinniburgh was impressive in the centre of the defence and proved he can read the game well; Darren Jack caused the Dunfermline defence trouble all evening and rarely wasted a ball- he won challenge after challenge in the air and impressed with his repertoire of head flicks and lay offs. Daniel Sengewald didn't look fully match fit but was impressive in the air and added a bit of physique at the back. Hopefully his knock is nothing serious.
