Everton lined up for Hammell's testimonial

hammyThe visit of the team that finished seventh in the Premier League  is sure to draw a decent crowd for the thoroughly merited tribute to our long serving left back.  The Toffees (who failed to qualify for the Champions League) are due to face Dundee United three days before they come to Motherwell.

Hammell has made 426 appearances in claret and amber and the 30 year old must have a realist chance of breaking the 500 barrier as he recently agreed terms for a further two years at Fir Park.  Kick off time and prices are not available.

The game comes a fortnight before the start of the SPL campaign and will allow a return to familiar turf for James McFadden.  Our old boy also featured for the visitors when the teams last met seven years ago.

To date only one other friendly has been announced.  It will take place on Tuesday 24 July when the team bus crosses the Clyde to play Hamilton Accies at new Douglas Park.  The game will kick off at 7pm.  No announcement about entry prices has been made.
