Everton Preview

Davie Moyes has worked wonders with his Everton squad and they did superbly well to reach the Champions League qualifiers. Everton have a number of decent players including familiar faces Gary Naysmith and Duncan Ferguson but it is not unfair the crowd will only be interested in one player in blue…

Faddy says cheerio...
James McFadden is still a hero in Motherwell and he will no doubt get a wonderful reception. He was very unfortunate to play in a side which was ravaged by the cut backs of administration but he provided some wonderful moments for us in what were dark times. Ultimately his sale helped us out of admin and he probably left at a good time for both parties. Sadly he has not quite found his feet at Everton but he was beginning to hold his own in the side last year when he got injured. David Moyes has strengthened his squad further and competition for places will be even harder this time around but hopefully Faddy can get settled and become the player we all know we can.

We have now played three pre-season friendlies and this will be our hardest match before the season starts for real on July 30. The result is obviously not too important but it would give our confidence a dent if we were to be visibly out classed. By the same token, a win, even if it was against a ‘relaxed’ Everton side would give our spirits a lift.

It should be a good contest and the return of Faddy should ensure a slightly bigger crowd than usual. But the Scousers will steal the win with a 2-1 result in their favour…
