Fiona's Charity Abseil at Fir Park

Last updated : 06 February 2021 By Firparkcorner

The South Stand at Fir Park was host for some unusual charity work on Sunday at the Anthony Nolan Trust Abseil Event.

The chance to help the Trust and at the same enjoy a view of Fir Park from an unusual angle was too much for Fiona to resist. She signed up, armed herself with sponsor forms and set about gathering cash.

Ready to go

The instructors kitted her out and also made an excellent job of making her feel at ease. One of them was a Dunfermline fan so he took a few cheap shots.

On the way to the top

The climb up to the top of the stand was followed by a nerve racking traverse along the gantry, the nearest she has come to walking the plank!

Flying!

Next was the climb over the rail, lean back, and back, and back and then go….

The descent was fantastic, really easy and very enjoyable.

Well over three hundred pounds was raised by her efforts and she reckons that another trawl of friends and relations might produce a few pounds more.

The Anthony Nolan Trust does fine work in saving the lives of sufferers from leukaemia and related diseases and this fundraiser is one of a number which run from time to time around the country.
