Fir Park surface repaired

A statement on the club website confirms that the problem was caused by a hardening of the material surrounding the undersoil heating pipes and as a result the natural drainage was impeded.

Work has taken place to "overcome the identified issue" and now we need to wait to see how the pitch behaves when subjected to heavy rain. The showers which fell on Wednesday evening will give an indication of the success of the work.

With any luck we should be able to play our home matches without the need to relocate.

The club and its experts are also planning a more permanent solution which will be implemented over the summer break.

Meanwhile the fixture planners are attempting to find dates for the outstanding fixtures.
