Fixtures Announced for 2008/9

Last updated : 16 June 2008 By Firparkcorner

The season progresses with home games against Aberdeen and Dundee United before a home tie to Celtic is sandwiched in between trips to Hibs and Rangers. This start is little short of ridiculous and is the opposite of last year's early run against 'weak' teams which gave us the basis for our good season. Alternatively, if we are even hovering around the top six after the first half dozen fixtures we surely have a good chance to then push ourselves back into contention.

After our first European game, we have a trip to Ibrox on Sunday September 21 while Falkirk at home on Sunday October 5 follows the return leg. Rangers also visit Fir Park on Wednesday November 12.

The first derby is at Fir Park on November 1 with our first trip to NDP being December 20.  The Christmas fixtures are limited due to the dates with no game on Boxing Day or Ne'er Day. Inverness visit us on December 27 while we travel to St Mirren to first-foot on January 3.

We have a mid-week trip to Hearts on Wednesday March 4 before the pre-split fixtures conclude with a home game against St Mirren on April 18.

The full list can be seen on the official site

As we're competing in the UEFA Cup - first round on September 18 and October 2 - we don't enter the League Cup until the third round. That is scheduled for September 23/24 before quarter finals on October 28/29 and semi finals on January 27/28. In case we reach the final, keep March 15 free! The Scottish Cup begins with the fourth round on January 10 with subsequent games on February 7 and March 7. Semi finals are April 25/26 and the diary date for the final is May 30.
