Four 'Well Players in Action for Scotland U21s

The Motherwell quartet faced Mexico in the U21 goalless draw played in Marbella on Friday afternoon.  Jake Hastie, Barry Maguire and David Turnbull contributed for the first time at this level while for the more experienced Allan Campbell in was appearance number fourteen.

After a first half when Mexico dominated possession, though with only two shots on target, we took a more adventurous approach in the second period.  There was plenty of effort on show but silky soccer was not in evidence.

Scotland were awarded a penalty in added time but Michael Johnston's weak shot was saved and the game finished 0-0.  A fair result.

Turnbull was substituted after 57 minutes and Hastie followed later.  Both Maguire and Campbell were on the pitch until the end.

The Motherwell four will be pleased with their performances and will have learned a lot having faced non-European opposition for the first time.  The exposure will only help their development

The young team face more action on Sunday when they take on Sweden.
