Fun In The Sun

Nearly thirty teams entered the competition held at the PowerLeague in Hamilton. The games started around lunch time with a group stage and the top two teams in each section progressed to the next round. The teams who finished third were entered into a draw with the first two out the hat going straight into the knockout stages and everyone else having to chance their arm in a play-off.

Hotly contested final
Those who finished fourth took the opportunity to retire to baguettes and beer in the bar whilst watching videos of Motherwell cuffing the Old Firm – not the end of the world then!

A long day’s play eventually ended with Faddy is the Daddy taking on Motherwell-Leeds in the final. Both teams had worked hard to get there and the final was graced with some excellent play. However, a ferocious middle spell of the game by Motherwell-Leeds allowed them to open up a decent lead which they held on to. 5-2 was the final score and they were worthy winners of the competition.

Those who were not successful on the pitch were given the chance of reprieve in a raffle which featured some of the worst prizes ever seen – along with a bottle of malt and a voucher for the new away top. Supporters trust representatives Martin Rose and Keith Brown handed out the medals and organisers Joe Smith and David Tonner can be proud of another successful and well run tournament which was fun for all involved.
