Motherwell fans have been arguing for his inclusion in the full squad for some time and everyone associated with the club will be delighted that Stevie has been rewarded for his years of consistent performances in claret and amber.

The twenty two year old has been a fixture in the left back position at Fir Park for the last five years and he has been a regular in Bonhof’s U21 squad until he crossed the age threshold last season.

Hammy played his part in Scotland’s goal – a bizarre affair it was too! It was Stevie who sent over a deep cross from twenty five yards out on the left wing. The ball was posing no threat to the Swedish defence as it floated high over the area when Faddy was tumbled on the penalty spot. The former ‘Well favourite knocked the penalty into the net with ease.

Earlier this year he extended his contract with Motherwell. We look forward to his career developing both at Fir Park and with the national team.

Congratulations Stevie.
