Hearts -- 24h on

The manager was clear that he felt the team had set a benchmark, a standard that should be the minimum that we should see in the games ahead.

There were encouraging signs from the start of the game.  If the plan had been to press the opposition in their own half then it was reinforced with Moult's early charge on Alexander that laid the foundation of the opening goal. Thereafter we maintained the energetic approach to deliver the much needed improvement on recent outings.

A rainy day in Motherwell

There was a welcome for Hammell, a sense that order had returned to the team.  A glance to the left flank brought a reward with the sight of the number three jersey patrolling the touchline.  Things were as they should be!

It was a pity that the foul weather put a damper on the fan ownership theme to the match.  The pre-match ritual was almost blown away and the half-time entertainment was abandoned in the storm.

With the exception of Dundee United who are seven points adrift, the bottom half of the table is very tight.  A handful of points separate 11th and 7th and there's no telling what the bottom of the table will look like as the season ends.

Our next fixture has us at Firhill to face a Thistle team that scored five at Rugby Park.  We haven't won in Maryhill since goals from Lasley, Francis-Angol, McFadden, Ainsworth and Sutton gave us a 5-1 triumph in December 2013.  A  repeat would be welcome this weekend!
