Hearts Preview

Martyn enjoyed his goal
What a contrast. On Tuesday, the ‘Well lost to Forfar and on Wednesday Hearts had a home win in the Uefa Cup. The Tarts are five points and four slots above us in the league and they must come full of confidence.

But their last visit to Fir Park produced the wonderful, magical, fantastic score of 6-1! On that occasion Pearo played a blinder and Martyn Corrigan scored a goal. A repeat would be welcome but not likely.

Terry Butcher made his feelings clear in midweek. “Too many, if not the whole of our team, did not perform…I’ve just told them what I felt”. We can expect the team to be highly motivated!

TB’s room for manoeuvre as far as team selection is concerned is limited and the odds must favour the same starting line up for the third game in a row. There were no injuries midweek and, with the exception of Toastie, everyone is available.

The opposition are likely to be in high spirits. Despite their heavy defeat last weekend they remain third in the league and will be confident of making the next round in Europe. De Vries will be the main threat and Partridge and Craigan will have to be on the top of their game to freeze him out.

There should be a decent crowd for the first game at Fir Park in almost a month. A big travelling support and a ‘Well crowd eager for a home win should make for an exciting game. Beating the Jam Tarts remains one of our favourite treats but it’s difficult to forecast that outcome. We’ll settle for a point. 1-1.
