Hearts Preview

Although the visitors managed to secure a point at Parkhead last weekend they have had only one league win in their last five outings. Whether the resignation of their chairman, the controversy over the proposed move to Murrayfield or the late loss of a two goal lead will have any bearing on the Tarts’ morale is up for debate but Terry Butcher will be preparing for a hard game. Hearts only reported concern is over McKenna who may not make the starting eleven.

What of Motherwell? We await with interest to see if Derek Adams is available to put on his captain’s armband. Keith Lasley’s mumps will keep him sidelined for a while yet.

The makeshift team which faced Rangers in the televised game on Sunday can be proud of the way they competed. The general opinion was that they were fortunate to escape with all three points. All we needed was a rub of the green in the brown area on front of the goals!

That’s another factor to be weighed into the equation. The Fir Park pitch will have its treatment after the end of the season but in the meantime both teams have to contend with a poor surface. Which team will be able to make the better adjustment?

Also of interest on Wednesday will be the game at Livingston. Can Killie do us a favour? We’ll probably keep the tension to ensure interest in the remaining games against Aberdeen and Dunfermline. A share of the points in a nil-nil draw looks favourite.
