Hearts Preview

The lack of a competitive edge in the last four games has resulted in a series of under-par performances. We have taken only one point from a possible twelve and Clarkson’s tap in against Celtic has been our only goal.

Nevertheless a hardy core of the ‘Well support will travel east to thank the boys for their huge efforts this season. The club is free from the chains of administration, sitting in the top half of the table and looking forward to the break.

The squad which served so well is already being disassembled. Adams and Craig have made their decision to leave and others may follow. We owe them a debt of gratitude and trust that they will remember their time at Fir Park with fondness.

We will face a Hearts team buoyed by the midweek win at Ibrox. They, too, will be experimenting with possible starters for next season and it will be difficult to predict the outcome.

Our defence had a good game on Wednesday and our ‘goals against’ column sits at the lowest level since the SPL expanded to twelve teams. The partnership of Craigan and Corrigan in the centre of the back four has been one of the main factors in this achievement. Kaiser Corrigan has only to complete a further ninety minutes on the park to reach the milestone of playing in every minute of every game this season.

It could be the case that defences come out on top. The last outing at Tynecastle (December 27) provided our only nil-nil result of the season. Time for another, 0 – 0.
