The manager's post match comment that the early second half penalty denial cost us dear was true enough. Until that point the game was pretty even. Nish's goal, well taken by him and poorly defended by us, set up a fine last half hour's entertainment. We pushed hard, they defended well and tried to break up the game by wasting every second. It was a pity that Zemmama employed the tactic of repeatedly giving the impression of serious injury. He was much more of a threat to us when he was in possession.

Any Motherwell fan who needs reassurance following our LDDL run should take a look at the table from a year ago. Were ninth and struggling. Our current position is a whole lot better.


We might have to brace ourselves for a period of discomfort if Gretna go out of business. We know only too well the traumas which follow administration and it is stating the obvious to point out that our sympathies are extended to all those who lose jobs or wages as a result of their financial situation. Their small band of supporters will feel the loss too but those who will lose a living are the real casualties.

Whatever solution is reached by the SPL will cause problems. There is no easy answer when a league has a team unable to complete a season and it might be time to remember, not for the first time this season, that this is only a game.
