Clean sheet for Smith
Fans, players and management all knew that the single point taken from the games against Hearts, Aberdeen and Dundee United did not truly represent the form that we had shown. Surely we would be rewarded with a win soon?

Had we lost the game, the prospect of the upcoming double header against Celtic and Rangers would have raised the awful prospect that we might have been at the bottom of the table after six games with one point on the board.

Sutton's goal takes some of the pressure off and might well increase our chances at taking something from the gruesome twosome.

Our play was a strange mixture of passing (often across the park rather than last season's more direct route) and long balls to out target men. The presence of Porter and Sutton made the long ball a bit more attractive and the absence of Rob Jones in the heart of the Hibs' defence helped.

The game had a look of a 0-0 about it as it entered the last quarter. We looked fairly comfortable in defence but seemed to be running out of steam in attack. Sutton completely fluffed an attempted shot and it looked like Clarkson's legs had lost their spring.

Once the pair contrived to build the goal McGhee sent on some fresh legs to help shut up shop. Three points in the bag made the trip back along the M8 a happy one.

Well done boys.
