Inverness - 24h on

It’s not often that we get to see a hat trick, even rarer that the hero is a birthday boy!  Higdon’s goal scoring naturally grabbed the headlines but his was just one of many superb performances on show in the most unlikely of teams.

Do_the_HiggyHad anyone suggested as the season began that we would field a back line consisting of one aged 22 (Page) and three 19 year olds (Kerr, Cummins and Francis-Angol), the assumption would have been that it was for an U20 fixture.  Instead, by the beginning of September all had some European experience and the manager was able to start them in an SPL fixture.  Suddenly our small squad has grown and McCall can be confident that he has good cover for all defensive positions.

The praise should not be limited to the inexperienced.  Lasley has started in each of the nine competitive matches this season and he put in another good shift against Inverness.  Law buzzed about the midfield again and Randolph gave another display that will give the Irish team manager food for thought.

The reward for the hard work is there to see in the league table and though others have a game in hand there will be no change for a fortnight.  We travel to Dens Park when the SPL resumes and with any luck the squad will be injury free and rested.  The team is still unbeaten with three draws and two wins for the first five rounds.  Well done lads – enjoy the rest.
