Inverness Caley Thistle Preview

Last updated : 01 October 2004 By Firparkcorner

We are on a wonderful unbeaten run. We defeated ICT without too much hassle in Inverness and they are struggling at the bottom of the league. We now face them on what is practically a neutral venue, knowing that three points will keep us in the top three of the SPL. What can go wrong!?!

Craigan will look to forget last week's mistake
Er, lots. This is Motherwell we’re talking about. One of the major concerns about writing this preview is that there seems to be no logical alternative to backing an away win and that’s usually when we make a mess of it. Inverness had their chances against us in the first half of the cup tie yet they couldn’t force Marshall into a save. Even if our defence is somewhat leaky just now, it is doubtful whether the ICT front men will be able to take advantage. They are also missing ex-‘Well target Stevie Hislop who is out with an injury.

On the other hand, we have a full squad to choose from including one of the hottest (Scottish!) strikers in the country and the red hot Kevin McBride. Again, we are forced to say that if we play as well as we can do, there will be no question of the three points coming back south with us.

There is a time for caution and concern but it is not this weekend. This is the sort of tricky game we have struggled with in the past and we can show our strength with a convincing win. It might be hard fought, but we will get it in the end – 2-0 ‘Well.
