Bryan Jackson admitted that the players had a claim and the club always expected to lose Friday’s hearing. However, the club does not have to pay out any money whilst in administration and the players just join the queue of creditors who need to be satisfied before a new owner takes over.

Messers Dow, Twaddle and the rest may have some time to wait before receiving their cash. If a new owner does appear then the creditors may have to accept a payment far below the nominal debt. As John Boyle is the main creditor, he will have the ultimate say in the matter.

But what if no new owner arrives? In time the club will come out of administration and some deal will be struck.

Bryan Jackson stated that in the absence of a buyer the club will continue in interim administration for the forseeable future. It seems unlikely that there will be any announcement on the way forward until the end of the season.
