Leitch Down not Out

Scott Leitch leaves the park on Saturday

A couple of minutes into the second half saw our man involved in a heavy tackle. It became apparent to the fans that he was in trouble and within a minute he had signaled to the bench and been replaced with Shaun Fagan.

The explanation appeared at the post match conference when Terry Butcher told the official site, “he has pulled a muscle in his shoulder, it’s not his shoulder injury it’s a completely different injury, but he wanted to come out for the second half but you could see he was a one arm bandit, and he could be out for some time.”

There was concern in the home stands as he left the park as he had stated earlier in the year “If it happens again that’ll be me finished”. Thankfully it seems that there is life in the old dog yet! Although Fagan did very well as a replacement there is little doubt that we would miss the busy midfielder. Get well soon.

Leitch missed most of last season when it became clear that further damage to his weakened shoulder could be permanent. He had an operation followed by several months of recuperation. Over the summer he pursued his ambition to gain entry to football management by signing up for coaching courses. In addition he is lending a hand with our U19s and sharing some of the load with Chris McCart.
