The fact is that our total of 44 points after 32 games exceeds the 42 points gathered at the same stage in the last two campaigns. We know that our haul could have been much higher and that our early season habit of conceding late, late goals has cost us dear. But we have to recognise the achievement of the current squad.

Kick off on Saturday with the usual Livi support in attendance

There have been more SPL goals scored at Fir Park than at any other ground so far this season – a grand total of 58. We can hardly complain about a lack of entertainment.

This week's clash at Ibrox should have a cup tie atmosphere. Both teams have to go for a win and we have to hope that Hibs do us a favour and prevent Aberdeen from earning three points. Our record in Govan does not bear examination but the management and players must cross the line with the belief that a win is more that possible.

Let's hope Terry Butcher is able to speak with a bit more belief as the week develops. His comments after Saturday's game hardly inspire. β€œIt would be miraculous, or every superlative you could imagine. We have never done well at Ibrox, and the game is often over in the first ten minutes, we want to give it a go as we have to.”

Maybe a visit from Tom Lucas is needed?
