It was good to see Quinn and Fitzpatrick again after such a long absence. Both showed signs that their early promise may yet bear fruit and it looks like more first team action should be in order.

Jim Paterson was all over the pitch. He started at left back then had a spell as striker when Hamilton was subbed and finally returned to the left side of midfield. It's a pity that season is coming to an end as he looks as sharp now as he has done all season. The same can be said for Clarkson.

Everyone was delighted to see him on the score sheet again and we can only hope that he has a more productive run next season.

Reynolds looked competent at left midfield and he showed a fair bit of pace at times. Donnelly had a steady game at the back and there will be no concern if he is called upon to fill a gap if either of the regular central defenders is unavailable.

It remains an unsolved mystery as to why Terry was reluctant to blood these guys at the start of the last five games. If ever there was an opportunity to test the U19s in the SPL then this was it. We were safe from relegation and the boys would be guaranteed plenty of support from the fans. Still, we have a game against Dundee United upcoming.

Let's keep the experiment going.
