Look Back to Rugby Park

As the manager put it after the game on Saturday, “That was a slap on the face for us”. He was not a happy chappie and he suggested that a few of the squad believed that they were better players than they are.

His irritation may cause him to intensify the search for a badly needed central defender. David Partridge made his debut for Bristol City at the weekend (in a three – nil defeat to Bournemouth where he conceded a penalty after handling in the box) but he was missed at Rugby Park.

Our defence, further weakened by the injury to Martyn Corrigan, struggled to close down the Killie attack. If further disruption was needed to the back line then the loss of the experienced Marshall for the novice keeper Smith delivered further confusion.

The midfield still has to adjust to the loss of Leitch and Clarkson, despite his goal, needs to have a few sessions with the sports psychologist to boost his confidence.

On the bright side (!) Scott McDonald should be fit for the next game and our next opponents are Dundee United. They have one point from three games and have scored only one goal.

Still, you’ll know of our ability to bring cheer to teams on a bad run……
