Maurice Malpas New Assistant Manager

This move is not a big surprise – rumours have been going round since Adams departed and Malpas was spotted coming out of the Main Stand at Broadwood on Saturday.

Our new number two
Maurice has several years of experience at being a number two, having served under various managers at Tannadice before being sacked this season. He has worked with Terry Butcher before, when Terry was at United as a coach.

While his time as assistant at Tannadice was not overly successful, Maurice had a fantastic playing career there. He played in over 600 games, won the League and Cup winners medals and gained fifty-five Scotland caps.

Like one of our previous managerial assistants, Miodrag Krivocpaic, Mo was a member of the Dundee United side who lost in the 1991 Cup final.

Malpas becoming Butcher’s assistant means that Chris McCart has moved to become head of youth development. This is obviously a vital role in a club like ours and Chris is widely recognised as being an excellent coach.

We wish both men well in their new roles.
