Midweek Happenings

The prospects of any Motherwell player being targeted during the current transfer window must have reduced to any lurkers at Love St but that has not stopped the speculation over a possible move for Stevie Hammell. The QPR manager poured cold water on the suggestion but admitted that they had watched him (hopefully not against St Mirren).

Meanwhile we can expect the usual media talk about Eddie Thomson hoping to acquire the services of one or two of Motherwell’s management team. Both Butcher and especially Malpas have spent time at Tannadice and with Chisolm collecting his P45 the link is obvious.

The reserves lost 2-1 to Rangers in the bleak surroundings of Ochilview Park this midweek. Clarkson suffered an ankle knock which is likely to keep him from the subs bench for several weeks. Kinniburgh played in what could be a rehearsal for Sunday’s game assuming that Terry makes the obvious choice to replace McLean.

We have a few high profile games on the way in the next few weeks and three of the next four will be broadcast live on television. It goes without saying that we will see a much improved performance from the lads in these encounters. There is much pride to be recovered and there will be no better route to making amends than to take something in front of a big home support this weekend.
