Midweek Roundup

The supporters will be returning to earth from cloud nine and the players will be stretching off sore muscles after the bruising they received. Stevie Hammell watched the Scotland U21 side tonight from the stand and he suggested that he will be fit for Sunday’s game at Tannadice. News about Scott Leitch’s groin strain has been thin on the ground.

Faddy models the new training top
The Scotland U21 side contained a Motherwell representative in the form of James McFadden. Faddy came on for Maloney in the second half and started up front with O’Connor. Later on he was moved to centre midfield. He had a couple of good runs but overall had a quiet game.

The newspaper attention McFadden has been receiving recently could easily have distracted him but he has remained focused on his football. He also has a healthy attitude regarding his future, having stated he would not be interested in moving anywhere if he is not guaranteed first team football. Billy Davies comments about McFadden should be treated with the contempt they deserve. As one ‘Well fan pointed out, BD seemed to let the bitter ex-manager part of his brain access his mouth.

For some bizarre reason, both Dundee teams are at home this weekend and our game with United has been moved to the Sunday. This may prove advantageous in letting our injuries clear up and it could be interesting to see what Saturday’s results throw up. Thistle will surely lose to Celtic and if the other strugglers, Dundee and Hibs, draw at Dens, we will have an excellent chance to consolidate our early mid-table position.

David Partridge has settled in well but our other new signings show no indication of playing. Khaled Kemas is not expected to be fit before September and while it was hoped Daniel Sengewald might make his debut at Tannadice, reports of him limping back from training suggest otherwise. However, the players haven’t let us down so far and there is no reason to believe they will now.
