Morton - 24h on

It was soon apparent that there was to be no cup shock at Fir Park.  The Morton team bus carried no banana skins and when Hateley’s curler from the tenth minute corner found the net the course of the game was set.  Motherwell grew in confidence and set about breaching the ranks of Morton’s defence.  Within half an hour we were out of sight.

The goal famine that had caused so much concern a few weeks ago is not forgotten.  Twelve goals in our last three appearances at home have ended that worry.  We can also take heart that seven players have shared in that goals haul and that Ojamaa has bagged three of them.  There’s nothing like scoring to build confidence.

It seemed like the team was trying to construct a goal for Higdon in the second half but he had no luck.  There was a wild volley that almost knocked a defender senseless then a free header directed into the ground with such force that it cleared the bar.  Perhaps he’ll score a few in Paisley!

Meanwhile we have a quarter final draw to get excited about.  A number of fifth round ties are yet to be decided so the pot will be somewhat unclear.  At the moment we’ll be in there along with Hibs, Celtic,Rangers or Dundee United, Hearts or St Johnstone, St Mirren or Ross County, Aberdeen or Queen of the South, Ayr or Falkirk.  The tie is scheduled for the weekend of 10 March.
