Motherwell given potential Celtic test

While it is important not to look beyond the immediate task of beating St Mirren - which still remains a significant challenge - Motherwell fans were still eagerly awaiting the quarter final draw.

We'll be hoping for another cup win at St Mirren in round five
The winner of our replay will face now face Celtic at home in what is naturally a very hard tie.

Previous ties between Motherwell and Celtic have thrown up drama with us losing a number of semi finals to the Glasgow giants but gaining revenge in 1991. We also knocked them out of the cup at Fir Park in 1976 and 1994.

In recent years we have blown potentially good cup runs against beatable opposition so perhaps a huge challenge like this will make it easier to focus!  Celtic are far from invincible as they will be going all out for the title and slipped up against Aberdeen at a similar stage last season.

The quarter final draw in full is:

Motherwell/St Mirren v Celtic
Airdrie/Dunfermline v Aberdeen/East Fife
Inverness v Falkirk
Forfar/Rangers v Hamilton

The ties should be played on the weekend of March 7 although we will surely be a candidate for television coverage if we progress.
