Next up - St Johnstone

If past statistics mean anything then this should be a straightforward win for the visitors.  Motherwell  have already recorded two wins over St Johnstone this season, scoring six without reply, and we have to return to the last century to find evidence of a home win at Mcdiarmid Park.

Unfortunately, past history will mean little when the teams cross the white line and take to the surface described by Derek McInness   as "awful, absolutely awful".    A combination of heavy autumn rains and the recent period of forced under soil heating has caused the pitch to cut up.  We know the problem only too well!

McCall's team selection might have to wait until tests are given to Lasley and Hateley to check out their bumps and strains but it would seem unlikely that any changes will be made to the defence or striking departments.  Jones did well enough on Saturday and we have every reason to hope for more now that he has had almost a week to get to know his new team mates.

St Johnstone have had a unbeaten start to 2011 recording a league win over Inverness, a cup win over Hearts and lastly a couple of draws with Kilmarnock and St Mirren but their goal tally at home is embarrassing - only five league goals at McDiarmid this season.  Can they find a way past Randolph?  He has conceded only two from his last five outings.

We are all too aware that Motherwell teams over the years have stumbled when the odds were in their favour.  Fortunately the bookies have the home team as favourites and we can be had for a tempting 2/1 at Victor Chandlers.  There could be a few pounds to collect a following a 2-0 win for the Mighty 'Well.
