Next up - Aberdeen

Motherwell return to Pittodrie on Saturday looking to build on last week's success at Kilmarnock.  With a manager yet to be appointed Steve Robinson has been in charge of developing the master plan.

With help from McFadden and Craigan our interim manager has been looking after team affairs ahead of next week’s likely announcement.  The squad will have taken heart from the win at Rugby Park with the end of the barren four game run in February.   A five point gap from the bottom of the table has been restored.

Happy fans at Pittodrie

We will await the team selection with interest.  Robinson fielded a very attack minded eleven for the second half last week with McDonald, Moult, Bowman and Frear leading the charge to overturn the one goal deficit.  Yet the goals came from the back as Jules and McHugh found the net.  Moult has to serve a one match suspension and his loss will give Bowman an opportunity.

McManus is a long term absentee but is seems that Heneghan, Jules and McHugh picked up injuries on the artificial surface and they will all be subject to late tests.  Tait also took a knock and had to be substituted.  Lasley and Hammell were the half time sacrifices and we can expect them to be in from the start.

Aberdeen have been in great form.  Since Christmas they have won 11 and lost only to Celtic and, in bizarre fashion recently, to Hamilton.  They seem able to adapt formations as required and are strong in both attack and defence.  Ryan Jack is likely to return but our old boy Mark Reynolds will miss the game.

Whatever the outcome it will surely be an improvement on the vast visit but any realistic assessment will conclude that a home win is probable.  A 2-0 loss may be on the cards.
