Motherwell will travel to Somerset Park on Saturday for a 3pm kick off against Ayr United. This will give 'Well fans a chance to see the team in action as the first warm up game was rained off last weekend.

Our second division opponents were relegated last season and they parted company with long time manager Brian Reid.  Club captain Mark Roberts stepped up and he’ll be in charge for Saturday’s game.  The Honest Men started their preparations with a 1-1 closed door game against Queen’s Park.  As is usual at this stage, their side had a number of trialists on show.

Motherwell’s line up will feature Simon Ramsden in the back line and McCall will come closer to a decision about whether to offer the defender a contract.  Regardless of the starting eleven we can expect many substitutions as the manager will be keen to give as many players as possible some match time.

The weather forecast for the Ayrshire coast suggests that there will be no risk of a cancellation and a few hundred Motherwell fans will take the opportunity of a trip to the seaside.  Somerset Park used to be a regular fixture on Motherwell’s pre-season calendar though the last trip was back in 2007 when a Clarkson (x2) and Lasley scored in a 3-1 win.

The team bus will make its way to Kirkcaldy on Tuesday evening for a friendly with Raith Rovers.
