Next up - at home to Kilmarnock

Motherwell return to Fir Park to host Kilmarnock on Saturday.  Nice to be back home.

After three games on the road Motherwell fans can enjoy the view from a familiar seat as they anticipate the latest display of Jens Berthel Askou’s revitalised side.

The addition of Oscar Priestman brings to eleven the new faces brought to the club as the end of the transfer window nears.  The imports have impressed, none more than the midfielders who together with old hand Callum Slattery delivered the much praised hour of delight at Tynecastle.

Elijah Just was the pick of the bunch but Elliot Watt and Lukas Fadinger made a big contribution to the new style on show.  Tawanda Maswanhise continues to rob defenders and his well taken goal against Hearts was a fine reward for his efforts.  He was partnered by Apostolos Stamatelopoulos but Callum Hendry will be hoping for a starting place.

Kilmarnock, like Motherwell, started the campaign with three draws having faced Livingston, Hibs and Dundee.  Our former gaffer Stuart Kettlewell joined the Rugby Park club at the end of May and he has overseen a major turnover of staff.  A dozen new faces have replaced a similar number of departures but it was a home grown talent that grabbed the headlines at Easter Road.  Eighteen year old Ben Brannan’s dipping volley helped Kilmarnock to a point.

A familiar complaint from their fans is the lack of a cutting edge.  Chances are created but not taken.  Let’s hope a solution is not found this weekend.

If Motherwell can maintain the high standard set most of last week’s game then a home win is likely, a 2-1 for the first win of the season.
