Motherwell
will close out the old year with a visit from Celtic late on Tuesday.
Jens
Berthel Askou’s side will look to their earlier trip at Celtic Park for
inspiration rather than the dismal home record they have against the Parkhead
side. The last win at Fir Park came in
the era of Michael Higdon and Henrik Ojamaa back in 2013.
That
meeting in October saw Motherwell in the lead with twenty minutes remaining but
an equaliser and a 90th minute goal left them with much praise and
no points.
Saturday’s
loss at Ibrox was as much due to an inability to capitalise on their several
chances as to their opponent’s efficiency.
A single goal defeat to end a ten game unbeaten run should not dent the
Steelmen’s confidence. They will freshen
the starting eleven and go again.

Celtic got an early shock at Livingston as they were behind twice inside the opening ten minutes but the final 4-2 result put them three points behind the leaders.
Benjamin
Nygren and Daizen Maeda lead their scoring chart but they have goal threats in
many positions.
Wilfried
Nancy has seen Celtic recover from a rare four game losing streak with wins in
the last two outings but his side seems to be far from settled. In attack they look threatening but they are
vulnerable at the back.
If
Motherwell can maintain their customary high share of possession it may be that
an entertaining evening could follow.
Let’s settle for a 2-2 draw.
