Motherwell and Kilmarnock meet on league business at Fir Park on
Saturday.
While Motherwell fans have been treated to a feast of entertaining
football this season, Kilmarnock supporters have suffered as their team dropped
down the table.
The Ayrshire side last won a game early in October and since then they
have played sixteen. That slump places
them in the play-off place and cost Stuart Kettlewell his job. Neil McCann has taken on the challenge.
The new management team kicked off with a draw against Livingston and a
cup loss to Dundee. McCann glossed over the schoolboy error that
gifted Dundee a place in the next round.
Newly installed ‘keeper Kelle Roos and Robbie Deas collided to present Drey
Wright with an easy goal in added time.
Red cards for Jack Thomson and Lewis Mayo left them with only nine on
the field at the end.

Reports suggest that a loan move for Rangers’ Findlay Curtis is possible
as Kilmarnock race to add to their squad before the transfer window shuts.
Motherwell were hardly stretched as they beat Ross County last
weekend. The slim margin barely reflected
the balance of the tie. Once again
Tawanda Maswanhise provided the crucial touch and speculation over his future
filled lots of column inches. Jordan
McGhee’s return from long term recovery almost feels like the arrival of a new
player and he seems to fit well into the team.
Jens Berthel Askou expressed his delight at the arrival of Eythor Bjorgolfsson. The Norwegian striker was in scoring form as
the Swedish leagues ended their season in November and the Fir Park faithful
will hope to see him in action on Saturday.
The earlier meetings have been in Motherwell’s favour with a win and a
draw. It’s no surprise that the bookies
are offering generous odds for an away win but punters may be best advised to
sit on their cash as Motherwell romp to a 2-0 triumph.
