Motherwell travel
Ibrox on Saturday holding a one point advantage over Rangers. Can they increase
the gap?
The Steelmen have delivered
a sparkling first half to the season under the stewardship of Jens Berthel
Askou. ‘Well fans of long standing have
never seen their team produce such a consistent spell of passing possession
play; long may it continue.
Wins in Govan are not what travelling fans from Lanarkshire normally expect yet a win this weekend would be a third straight triumph at the old stadium. The last came in March under Michael Wimmer’s hand as the transition in style began. Only three of the sixteen victors that day are likely to take part on this occasion.

Enjoying a 'Well win in 2024
Motherwell take six
clean sheets and a ten game unbeaten league run into this meeting to let them
face the challenge with confidence.
Tawanda Maswanhise’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations allowed
Regan Charles-Cook a starting place against Dundee last weekend but it was
Callum Slattery who popped up with the telling header to win the game.
Rangers have stuttered
and stumbled but in the last few weeks their league form has improved. Nevertheless, two wins from the last seven outings
in all competitions is a poor return from a team that cost millions to build. New manager Danny Rohl suffered the loss of
three points at Tynecastle on Saturday and it is clear that his team has much
to do if they are to be league contenders.
They are likely to be
weakened in defence by the continuing absence of John Souttar. Also missing will be Derek Cornelius and Nasser
Djiga. They will rely on Bojan Miovski
and big signing Youssef Chermiti to lead the line.
We can be assured that
Askou will have a plan for his first appearance in Glasgow’s south side and
there is no doubt that his players will carry out his instructions. Motherwell will play their usual positive
attacking football and look for a positive result. A 1-1 share will keep us above the
opposition.
