Next up - Motherwell away to Dundee

League action returns on Saturday as Motherwell face Dundee at Dens Park.

As Motherwell’s far traveled internationalists return to Fir Park they will find their team-mates in good spirits after an encouraging start to the season.  It is true that the four Premiership games have yielded only four points but that return has come about with a new group of players adapting to a radical change in tactics.

As the latest arrivals have hardly had time to get familiar with their new surroundings the manager will still be uncertain of his best starting eleven.  He will hope that any jet lag symptoms will have gone by Saturday.

The Steelmen’s last outing saw a couple of points dropped following a late defensive error.  Kilmarnock were happy to take a point back to Rugby Park.  It would not be a surprise to see Aston Oxborough handed the guardian’s jersey.

There are unpleasant rumblings in the Dee support following the derby defeat a fortnight ago.  Their weak performance was the latest in a series of disappointments that have plagued the start of the season.

Early ejection from the League Cup then two draws and two defeats in the league, scoring only two goals, has left the dark blue side of Tayside in despair.  Stephen Pressley’s cautious approach has not been welcomed.

They will look to Yan Dhanda and Cameron Congreve to deliver some attacking intent but Cesar Garza and Paul Digby will be absent from the midfield.

‘Well fans are rightly sceptical when their favourites are placed as heavy favourites for an away win (Dundee can be backed at close to 3/1) but those who watch the game from the Bob Shankly Stand may return home happy after a 2-0 success.
