Next up - Motherwell in Paisley

Motherwell take to the road on Saturday to face St Mirren in the second game of the league campaign.

The teams were paired with the big Glasgow duo in the opening weekend and neither side recorded a win.  Motherwell earned lots of style points for their showing against Rangers and thanks to a goal from Emmanuel Longelo a draw was secured.  St Mirren defended well but lost to a late Celtic goal at Parkhead.  Will there be a winner at St Mirren Park?

Celebrating the winner

Motherwell came out on top in last season’s meetings with two wins and a draw but both sides will be much changed as this new campaign gets underway.

Six new Steelmen wore claret and amber last weekend and the expectation is that more additions will join them in the coming weeks.  Lennon Miller may be far away by the Saturday kick-off.

Stephen Robinson continued his romance with former ‘Well players as he signed of Liam Donnelly.  He is among a dozen new faces in the Paisley squad.  Killian Phillips and Mikael Mandron were top scorers in the early stage of the League Cup.

Motherwell fans are likely to fill the away end at the SMiSA Stadium as they seek more of Jens Berthel Askou’s brand of football.  The object is to win the game but the thrill is greatly enhanced with a positive entertaining display on the park.

After a hard fought afternoon we may return to Lanarkshire with three points after a 2-1 triumph.
