No Smoking at Fir Park

The decision to go beyond the minimum requirements of the legislation means that there will be no debate or argument about which areas are enclosed. No one will be permitted to smoke anywhere within the ground.

This welcome decision is a natural one for a club which has enjoyed a long relationship with the local Heath Board – now NHS Lanarkshire. The roof of the East Stand has, for many years, carried the plea to ‘Keep Cigarettes Away from the Match” and, at last, it will become a reality.

Clean air at Fir Park

The club and NHS Lanarkshire is renewing the sponsorship deal today (9/2/2006) and the health representatives are delighted at the news. The year long deal will see a continuation of the club’s involvement with healthy eating and lifestyle campaigns and hundreds of youngsters will have the opportunity of sampling pasta and salad at Fir Park as part of the plan.

The first SPL fixture to be played under the ban will be against Livingston on 1 April.
