Pre-season Friendlies Announced

Last updated : 01 June 2005 By Firparkcorner

The official site reveals that there are five games in the run in to season 2005/6.

There are three away games at Hampden, Broadwood and Palmerston alternating with the glamour home matches against newly relegated Southampton and high flying Everton.

The series kicks off on July 9 as we visit Queen’s Park. This early start (our first friendly last season was on July 16) is a knock on from the timing of the World Cup. We last played the third division side in a friendly in July 1999.

There have been few big name warm ups at Fir Park recently. Last season our new pitch was protected and the season before saw Fulham share the spoils in a 2-2 draw. McFadden came off the bench in that game to set up an equaliser for Toastie but the golden one will make his playing return on Saturday 16 July when Everton come to town.

There is certain to be a decent turn out from ‘Well fans (not sunning themselves on the beaches) as we welcome Faddy back home. He has made his affection for Motherwell clear and his occasional returns have been noted.
