The fact that we could easily be sitting on four points is neither here nor there - the harsh reality is that we have zero from six so far and with a trip to Easter Road coming up before we face both the Old Firm, it is imperative we take a win here.

United seemed to have a good pre-season but a dismal performance at Hamilton on the opening day showed they are far from invincible. We cuffed them at Fir Park once last year and only a late equaliser secured them a point in their second visit.

Kick off v United

Our problem is that we simply don't look like the team we were back then. Porter isn't anywhere near his best and the attack is struggling badly as a result. We may be able to see John Sutton make his debut but unless we go for a very attacking system then it will be from the bench.

The defence is not without concern either although they will point out they did their job reasonably well last week. Reynolds is a doubt having pulled out of the Scotland U21 squad and while we hope he makes it, the backup plan if he doesn't is frightening - either Malcolm will cover or Quinn will move inside with Connolly playing at right back. Eek!

The guests have a near full squad to choose from and with Feeney and Sandaza both looking dangerous we will need to be alert at the back. We do know we can score goals against them though but we need to raise our game. It doesn't matter how we do it, so long as we do - 1-0 Motherwell.

Remember the last time United visited Fir Park?
