Preview - Dundee United (a)

Our recent good run ended with a bump when St Johnstone bumped us out the cup and although we were better against Hearts we were still a long way off being good. But there is reason for optimism! Not only are United poor (they have scored only twice in the last seven league games), our record up there is good (no defeats in nearly three years) and we have Scott McDonald back from suspension so we might even threaten occasionally ourselves!

Will Paterson be left back this time?

With the top six almost gone it doesn't really matter that we will be forced to tinker with the line up. Murphy is a big doubt after hurting his foot so presumably Paterson will drop back into the defence. Kerr is also likely to be missing meaning the Vadocz/McBride combo can be given another run. That certainly can't hurt and while United's central duo of Kerr and Robertson isn't terrible, the pair are by no means the best in the league either. Molloy could be given a run on the left, or McCormack could move out there letting Keegan or Clarkson partner McDonald.

For United, Craig Conway will be missing but Hunt and Daly have both struggled to find the net recently so if we can keep Barry Robson quiet we must have a decent chance of keeping a clean sheet. They do have the edge over us in terms of height so set pieces will be a problem but then again they always are.

This match could be exciting and open as neither team has much to lose. More likely is another grim struggle but we might take a point on this occasion - 1-1.

Remember our last visit to Tannadice?
