Preview - Kilmarnock (h)

Indeed, the victory on Saturday means we are only a three-point swing away from confirming our SPL status beyond all doubt. That means a win over Kilmarnock will mean we are mathematically safe a game before the split- now regardless of what you think of Malpas or our style of play, that is a tremendous accomplishment given how the first four games of the season went.

Are we likely to get that win? On paper probably not because Kilmarnock are better, bigger, stronger and quicker than us but we still hammered them 5-0 in the first game and won a tremendous three points with a 2-1 success at Rugby Park. It just shows that if we can take our chances and keep it tight at the back we have a good chance of beating a top six side.

Killie are on a downer after their cup final debacle but they have several players injured and it seems as if refreshing their side has been a blessing in disguise. They outplayed Aberdeen but couldn't find the goals to win.

We will have Paul Quinn available again after suspension but McCormack, O'Donnell, Lasley and McLean will still be out with injury. Darren Smith possibly did enough to suggest he deserves a start but McBride wasn't that bad on Saturday and might get another chance.

McDonald will play as the main striker and we could argue all day about the merits (or lack of) possessed by Keegan and Clarkson to partner him but the adage of never change a winning team will probably be applied by Maurice so the big man might have another opportunity.

This is a good chance for us to pick up more points and we have shown we can compete with Kilmarnock this season. There's no reason not to be too downhearted and if we play to our best we can get a good result. 2-1 to the Mighty 'Well.

Remember the last time Killie were t Fir Park? Report.
