Preview: Aberdeen (h)

The squabble over their cheeky request for a postponement will be forgotten by kick off time and Motherwell cannot afford to approach the game hoping that the opposition will be holding back ahead of their Uefa Cup game.

Aberdeen under pressure

Reported injuries to the likes of Jamie Smith, Jackie McNamara, Darren Mackie and Zander Diamond may give others a chance to impress but we'll have to wait until Calderwood names his starting eleven to see the true extent of his casualty list.

While our opponents have earned two home wins already this month they have not won a game away from Pittodrie since they beat Inverness in October. In contrast our recent record has been outstanding. Our run of four consecutive wins with only one goal conceded has propelled us to third place in the table, five points ahead of Aberdeen.

There have been no hints of injuries to our preferred starting eleven and it seems likely that Motherwell line up will be unchanged. McGhee was lavish with his praises after last week's hard fought victory at Tynecastle. That game showed that we have an ability to play a more physical game when conditions prevent our natural passing game. It also showed that we can be just as comfortable (and dangerous) with the 4-4-2 formation as with our normal 4-3-3 setup.

Ladbrokes have us as 6/5 favourites for this match and as the bookies are rarely make mistakes a 2-1 home win might be on the cards.

Remember the last time we played Aberdeen?
