Preview: Aberdeen (h)

It is clearly ridiculous to place too much importance on the opening two matches of the season but for either Motherwell or Aberdeen to take no points from six will raise eyebrows. Confidence is a huge thing in a league as tight as the SPL and having to chase the pack from early on is not favourable.

Aberdeen were dire for long spells last season but still finished fourth. If it hadn't been for Graeme Smith's wonder 'save' against them in May, then they could even have even pipped us for Europe. We will need to be at our best to beat them.

And while we weren't terrible at Tynecastle, we didn't hit the heights we can do either. Several players, in every area of the team, can up their game from that performance and Mark McGhee will no doubt have made this clear.

Aberdeen defend a free kick

Brian McLean is the only member of our small squad unavailable although it is doubtful any changes will be made to the starting eleven.

It's time to get the season going - 2-1 Motherwell.

Remember the last time Aberdeen were at Fir Park?
