The defeats prompted the usually calm and considered Mark McGhee to make public comments about the team which raised a few eyebrows. After the loss to Rangers he said, I feel embarrassed. That was the worst performance by us since I've been at the club." He then took the view that the CIS cup tie against Hamilton was a "must win" affair; we lost.

Porter came close aginst the Saints

St Mirren are one point ahead of us though they, like us, have had only one SPL win to date. We will have to face them without Chris Porter following his red card on Wednesday, Craigan must be very doubtful; he had to be substituted in the first have against the Accies.

Murphy seems likely to keep his starting place up front and Sutton should enjoy the prospect of scoring against his former team but the personnel in the back four, if Craigan doesn't make it, gives some room for debate. Will Quinn move to centre with Lasley at right back or could we see an appearance from the new signing, Klimpl?

The feeling among St Mirren fans is that Sutton is sure to score and they seem worried that their team has the lowest goals tally in the league. We can only hope that their fears are justified and that we record a 1-0 win to get our season started.

Remember the last time St Mirren visited?
