Although the 'glamour' home friendlies against Everton and Southampton drew some interest, many 'Well fans will delight in a trip to Palmerston. Another away ground will be crossed of the list for many younger fans while those with longer memories will look forward to reviving recollections from times past.


Terry Butcher will be back in charge after his travels to Australia. He is reported to be pleased at the prospect of discovering a route into the developing talent in Western Australia but in the meantime we'll make do with Scott McDonald.


A pleasing aspect of this season's warm up games was the couple of goals Clarkson scored against Airdrie. Some competition for places in our attack is welcome. If he can bag another couple before the season proper then we can hope that a better season may lie ahead.

We have a substantial list of injured players so the team on Saturday is likely to be unlike that which will start the season against Celtic in a week's time.

Let's hope the weather holds and that we can enjoy an awayday against the Doonhamers.
