Rangers 24h on

One of eleven heroes
It should be noted that Rangers had an off day and a couple of players out but they still had millions of pounds worth of talent on the pitch. The fact remains that we were excellent and while we worked tremendously hard, we also showed that we are not short on skill ourselves.

James McFadden the star as usual and his performance will have scouts up and down the country sending memos back their clubs. The transfer window is now only a few days away and we will do very well to hang on to Faddy. Along with his own display, McFadden has the ability to improve those around him. That is perhaps slightly worrying with regards to our long term future but for now, it is just another reason to appreciate our hero.

However, while the flashy McFadden will grab the headlines, it was the solid displays from the quiet people that ensured we managed to grind out a result. Martyn Corrigan was outstanding, even moved out to right back, and will surely be attracting the attention of Berti Vogts. At the start of the season, Kaiser was just another player. Right now, he is looking like the reincarnation of Miodrag Krivocapic such is his comfort and poise on the ball. Corrigan was up against the pacey Peter Lovenkrands for most of the game and the Dane was hardly allowed a kick. Even when he drifted infield in the dying minutes, Martyn was there to deflect the ball inches past the post.

Receiving even less praise than Corrigan, is William Kinniburgh, a boy of 18 who has just kept a clean sheet against Rangers at centre half. He never seems to be rushed or in trouble, simply because his reading of the game is so good. William has only played a few matches for us but he already looks like one we will struggle to hold onto.

While I’m picking out a few players, it would be unfair to give anyone extra credit for the win last night. The whole team were superb and they showed just how much they want this club to do well. The fight they put in was magnificent and, as with every game this season, it should make you proud to be a ‘Well fan. We have a great opportunity in the next week to jump up the table. Livingston and Thistle both appear to be bogey teams but our best performance will be more than enough to defeat both. Whether we are consistent enough to produce it again remains to be seen.
