Rangers' Preview

Rangers failure to take any silverware this season has given Big Eck a chance to experiment. It seems that he has discovered that it is not a requirement to field a team of exotic foreigners and that there are some home grown players who deserve a chance to impress. Nice to see that they are following in our footsteps to some degree.

Our young talent continues to impress and it was pleasing to see Paul Quinn make his U21 debut against Denmark during the week. Congratulations go to David Clarkson for his goal in the same game. Terry Butcher has been resting him recently. Will he get a start on Saturday?

Our ‘goals against’ column has been growing at an encouraging slow rate this year and Gordon Marshall and his back line are due praise for this happy event. Kaiser Corrigan, in particular, has made a telling contribution and he could be set to play every minute of every game this season. There will be a change in midfield due to keith Lasley’s suspension, he misses the first of a two game ban on Saturday.

There will be the usual collection of diehards in the Govan West corner, though many more will have made the understandable decision not to donate nineteen pounds at the Ibrox turnstile. There’s no reason not to be optimistic about this fixture but we may have to settle for just the one point again. 1-1.
