The first half was a fairly even affair, but neither team could break the deadlock. We had slightly more of the possession but despite playing some pretty patterns, we found chances few and far between. Adams and McFadden were zipping in dangerous crosses but Lehmann was lacking support in the middle.

Corrigan had a superb game at the back and staked a real claim for a starting position. Also looking sharp was Stevie Woods - he made a couple of solid saves on his way to another clean sheet.
We began to step up a gear and the gap in talent began to show. Pearson and McFadden were dominating the game and it was a majestic move from Faddy that led to the opening goal. He received a short corner, beat one man, skipped between another two and curled an excellent cross to the back post. Lehmann was perfectly placed to bullet a header home.
St Mirren rallied but could only force Woods into one save, from a well-struck free kick. We missed chances to kill the game, Lehmann and Adams forcing Roy into action. The clinching goal did come though and it was from another corner. Lehmann knocked it down and Pearson met it on the volley to sweep the ball into the far corner.
The game had developed a bit of niggle in the second half with both teams throwing themselves into enthusiastic challenges. The managers would be relieved to see their players leave without serious injury and Terry Butcher would have been delighted at the solid half hour Partridge played.
Another good performance and another good result. Can we keep it going against Birmingham?
